My favourite media text is the TV shows Gavin & Stacey
What it is and why you like it: This show is a comedy / drama about a boy from England and a girl from Wales who start a relationship and the plot revolves around their struggle in bringing two sets of family and friends together. It was written by a girl from Wales and a boy from England and picks up, magnifies and pokes fun at the subtle differences between the two cultures. I like that the plot revolves around family relationships of grown up children reflecting the activities of 20 – 30 something’s and that the characters are far from perfect. And it’s just really funny!
